A new type of quantum needle model system can relax the requirement for radical pair lifetime by an order of magnitude, and retains a narrow functional window around the geomagnetic field. We introduce a novel approach for achieving strong coherent coupling between ions and electrons by using a wire data bus along with local parametric modulation of the electron trapping potential. Our approach addresses the challenges posed by their differing masses and charges, enables sympathetic cooling of trapped electrons and significantly enhances ion-ion coupling via electron mediation.

We propose and demonstrate a hybrid quantum thermometer composed of bulk diamond with ensemble NV centers and gadolinium magnetic flux concentrators, achieving a submicrokelvin resolution. Near the critical point, the spin resonance to temperature is about 774 times enhanced compared with that of bare NV centers.
