This chapter specifically reviews the applications of magnetic nanoparticles in diamond quantum sensing, and also highlights how diamond quantum sensing can be utilized to investigate the magnetic properties of these nanoparticles.

We present a quench-interferometric framework to probe zero-temperature quantum phase transitions (QPTs), which circumvents the challenging preparation of a many-body ground state, advancing the study of QPTs with experimentally practical quantum simulation techniques and revealing a stimulating interplay between quantum metrology and non-equilibrium many-body physics.

We introduce a novel approach for achieving strong coherent coupling between ions and electrons by using a wire data bus along with local parametric modulation of the electron trapping potential. Our approach addresses the challenges posed by their differing masses and charges, enables sympathetic cooling of trapped electrons and significantly enhances ion-ion coupling via electron mediation.

We propose and demonstrate a hybrid quantum thermometer composed of bulk diamond with ensemble NV centers and gadolinium magnetic flux concentrators, achieving a submicrokelvin resolution. Near the critical point, the spin resonance to temperature is about 774 times enhanced compared with that of bare NV centers.
